HAROLD FETZER

Harold G. Fetzer, 96, of Grinnell died of congestive heart failure Wednesday, May 15.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the Malcom Presbyterian Church, officiating. Organist was Margaret Wheeler, and pallbearers were David, Denny, Gary, Mike and Rick Durr and Daryl Morrison.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mr. Fetzer's name may be made to Grinnell Regional Medical Center.

The son of Edward and Margaret Springer Fetzer, he was born July 15, 1899, near Williamsburg. He attended rural school and graduated from Ladora High School. He later attended business college in Cedar Rapids.

Mr. Fetzer worked in Marengo at a creamery and on farms near Marengo and Ladora. In 1928, he moved to Grinnell and worked for the Iowa State Highway Department.

He was married to Hazel A. Keenan Nov. 4, 1933, in Des Moines. The couple lived in Grinnell. Mrs. Fetzer died in 1974.

He was married to Mary Jane Durr Jan. 10, 1976, at Brownsville, Texas.

He was a member of the Presbyterian Church of Grinnell.

Surviving are his daughter, Phyllis Fetzer of Providence, R.I.; two stepsons, Lloyd Durr of Grinnell and Donald Durr of Orlando, Fla.; one stepdaughter, Margaret Clark of Grinnell; 10 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wives; four brothers, Mervin, Walter, Floyd and Garold; and two sisters, Eva Gahring and Sadie Coulter.

NOTE: Omitted from this obituary was his first wife, Grace Lucille Tuttle 1904-1931 and their son, Charles Edward Fetzer 1926-1974. MH
