FUNERAL OF MRS. DRISKELL

Services for Pioneer Were Held Tuesday from Christian Church East of Searsboro.

PALL BEARERS WERE OLD FRIENDS AND NEIGHBORS

Mrs. Driskell Died April 14 at the Home of Her Son in Newton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Driskell, resident of this city for the last six months, were held Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock in the Christian church located east of Searsboro, Iowa, and burial was in the family lot in the West Liberty cemetery near the church yard. The rites were conducted by the Rev. W.R. Moore, pastor of the local Presbyterian church. A large circle of friends and relatives gathered at the church to pay their last respects.

Pallbearers included old friends and neighbors and the music was furnished by Mrs. Jennie Vaught, Mrs. Orpha Steel, Grant Johnson, Levi Martin, Robert Steel and Cecil Miller. The sacred selections include "Nearer My God to Thee" and "Rock of Ages."

The Newton people attending the funeral services were Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Driskell, Mrs. Senith Tish, Mrs. H.J. Lammers, Mrs. C.M. Sabin, Mrs. Robert Wheeler and Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Anderson.

Mary Hayes Driskell, daughter of William and Malinda Hayes, was born Oct. 4, 1850 in Indiana and died at the home of her son, W.H. Diskell, in Newton, April 14. She had been ill at her son's home for a week with bronchial pneumonia and died Saturday at the age of 77 years.

She was united in marriage to James Driskell and to this union five children were born, W.H. Driskell of Newton, George Driskell of Grinnell, Roy Driskell of Lynnville, Orie Driskell of Gridley, Calif., and Mrs. Stella Easter of Barnes City, Iowa, of whom all survive. Her husband preceded her in death more than 19 years ago.

She had lived on a farm in Union township until just a year ago. She had made her home in Newton since last November with Mr. and Mrs. W.H. Driskell. Mrs. Driskell was united with the Church of Christ in early years and had always been faithful in her beliefs.
