CLYDE R. COCHRAN, GILMAN FARMER, DIES WEDNESDAY

Clyde Raymond Cochran, 65-year-old farmer, died at a local hospital Jan. 22 at 2:45 p.m. He had been in declining health for the past two months.

He was born March 11, 1892 at Montezuma, the son of the late William and Elizabeth McVey Cochran. In 1916 he clerked at New Sharon Hardware, and has farmed near Searsboro and New Sharon. Mr. Cochran lived in the Gilman neighborhood for the past 17 years, and farmed southwest of Gilman.

Survivors include is wife, Ethel Gerard, Gilman, to whom he was united in marriage March 16, 1916. Surviving children are Paul Cochran, Forrest Grove; Mrs. Joe (Maxine) Hasley, Searsboro; Mrs. David (Mildred) Martens, Lancaster, Ohio; Mrs. Doyle (Norma) Weaver, Newburg.

Also 12 grandchildren, and sisters, Mrs. Roy West of Wayzata, Minn., and Miss Carol Cochran of Chicago, Ill.

Mr. Cochran was a member of Gilman Community Church, the Knights of Pythias Lodge in Grinnell, and the Farm Bureau. He served his church in several offices.

Funeral will be Friday, Jan. 24, at 1:30 p.m., at the Gilman Community Church, the Rev. Frank Perry, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma. Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
