Pallbearers were Kenneth Arthur, Burdette Farley, Clair McGriff, Clair Porter, Merland Pfantz and William D. Simmons. Burial was in Pleasant Township Cemetery at Ewart.

Born April 22, 1895, in Pleasant township, Poweshiek County, he was the son of Joseph and Clara Reid Farley and was the eldest of five children. He attended the rural schools in the Ewart area and Grinnell high school.

He was married and is survived by his daughter, Mrs. Carroll (Pauline) Ryan of Gilman; three grandchildren, Airman 2/c Richard Ryan of the U.S. Air Force stationed in Turkey, Bruce and Keith Ryan, both of Gilman; two brothers, Wilmer Farley of Exira and Emory Farley of Malcom; and one sister, Miss Leila Farley of Grinnell.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian church of Ewart and in his teens was a member of the Young People's Society of the church. Later he assisted his father, brothers and neighbors in tearing down the old church and excavating for the foundation of the present church. He was active in community affairs and served as a director of the rural school for several years. He also served as a township trustee.

Mr. Farley farmed the greater part of his life and in recent years resided in Oskaloosa.
