ETHEL COCHRAN SERVICES HELD

Funeral services for Mrs. Ethel Cochran, 81, who died Sunday, May 26, at Grinnell General Hospital, were held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Methodist Church in New Sharon.

Mrs. Cochran, a resident of Lake Ponderosa, Montezuma, was born Oct. 12, 1892, the daughter of Mose and Jane Gerard. She taught school before her marriage to Clyde Raymond Cochran on Feb. 16, 1916. She taught Sunday school for several years and was a lifetime member of the W.C.T.U.

She spent her married life living on farms in the New Sharon, Searsboro and Gilman communities, raising her four children. After the death of her husband in 1958, she moved from Gilman to New Sharon. During the past six years, she made her home with her daughter, Maxine Hasley.

Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. David (Mildred) Martens of Lancaster, Ohio, Mrs. Joe (Maxine) Hasley of Montezuma, and Mrs. Doyle (Norma) Weaver of Newburg; 12 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Robert (Irene) Johnson of Ottumwa. She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Paul Cochran of Oregon; three brothers and three sisters.

The Rev. Scott Woodworth officiated at the services Wednesday. Burial was in the Jackson Township Cemetery, Montezuma.
