RITA F. DEMPSTER

Rita F. Dempster, 57, of Des Moines, formerly of Grinnell, died of complications of scleroderma Saturday, July 1, a Mercy Hospital in Edmond, Okla.

Services will be at 4 p.m. Friday at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 East Lyon St., Des Moines. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chester Cemetery near Grinnell. The procession will start from the Smith Funeral Home here at 12:30 p.m.

She was the daughter of Keith Greer and Fran S. Dempster. She was raised on her parents' farm south of Grinnell. She graduated from Grinnell High School, attended William Penn College and graduated from AIB Business School in Des Moines.

After working for several years in the insurance industry, she accepted a job with the U.S. Postal Service, where she was employed for the past 30 years.

She was a member of the American Postal Workers Union and attended First Assembly of God in Des Moines.

Surviving is her brother, Keith W. Dempster of rural Iowa City.

Her parents preceded her in death.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine or the Animal Rescue League of Des Moines.
