AUDRA JOHNSON SERVICES HELD

Audra E. Johnson, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 25, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted Jan. 29 at the Watts Funeral Home in Montezuma, with the Rev. Raymond Moore of the Brooklyn United Methodist Church officiating. Soloist was Jarold Greene, and organist was Beverly Vaverka. Pallbearers were James Stevenson, Kenneth Stevenson, Dale Earnhart, Wayne Gillaspie, Art Thayer, and Bert Phipps. Burial was in the Goldenrod Cemetery in Deep River.

The daughter of John and Evelyn Allen Harden, she was born on May 17, 1900, in Montezuma. She attended school in Montezuma and worked as a telephone operator there for several years. She was a graduate of the Ames Business School.

On Dec. 13, 1922, she was married to Virgil Rothrock Johnson in Deep River. For many years she and her husband owned and operated Johnson's Drive-in on Iowa Highway 146 in Grinnell.

She is survived by one daughter, Karen Stevenson of Malcom; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one daughter, Kathleen Bahrenfuse; and one sister, Millie Inman.
