Grinnell Herald (Grinnell, Iowa) 1899

--Miss Celia A. Robbins was born at Lone Rock, Wisconsin, May 7, 1851. When 21 years of age she came to Grinnell and lived with her uncle, Hon. Joel Stewart, for two years, until she was united in marriage in Sept. 1874 with W.H.H. Lancaster, at that time agent for the Rock Island at this place. They afterwards moved to Earlham, where Mr. Lancaster was killed in a railway accident June 2, 1891. One child, Otto, was born to this union. With him Mrs. Lancaster soon afterwards moved to Grinnell. Here, Aug. 31, 1896, she was united in marriage with Mr. C.H. Verbeck. Two years ago she was attacked by disease which proved a long, lingering illness. Everything was done that could be done to afford relief and restore health, but in vain. Had she lived until next May she would have been 48 years of age. The deceased woman was a member of the Congregational Church of this place, and lived an active and consistent Christian life. She was highly esteemed by a large and increasing circle of friends. The funeral was held at the house Saturday morning conducted by Rev. E.M. Vittum. The music was by a quartet consisting of J.C. Walker, O.F. Parish, Mrs. A.B. Mack and Miss Kate Hibbard. The bearers were C.N. Perry, H.C. Spencer, J.F. Wilson, J.E. Neely, A.A. Williams and J.B. Bryan. A profusion of flowers decorated the casket, among which were a wreath of roses, a cross of roses furnished by the ladies of the Eastern Star, and a bouquet of lilies furnished by the W.R.C. Her husband and son have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
