MRS. ELIZA J. CRAIN IS BURIED HERE

The funeral services for Mrs. Eliza J. Crain who died at Waterloo were held at Snyder's Undertaking Parlors Tuesday afternoon and burial was in Hazelwood by the body of her husband.

Mrs. Crain was well known in Grinnell by the older settlers and was held in high respect as the positions of honor she held while living here showed. She was at one time also a resident of Montezuma while her husband served the county as county recorder.

She was born in Buchanan Co., Penn., the daughter of a Baptist minister. She was one of a large family of children. At an early age the family moved west. In 1856 she was married to George W. Crain, who preceded her in death 36 years ago. They lived in and about Grinnell for 26 years. She was a member of the Baptist Church and throughout her whole life exemplified the teachings of Jesus Christ. She was a charter member and Past Worthy Matron of Beulah Chapter O.E.S. For the past 14 years she has lived in Waterloo with her daughter Mrs. W.D. Ives. She lived very close to her God and her influence was very wide spread in her church and the community. Her cheery presence and her happy spirit was an inspiration to all with whom she came in contact.

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. C.L. Welch of Marysville, Ohio, and Mrs. W.D. Ives of Waterloo, also two sisters one of them being Mrs. Anna Rickard of this city, also eight grandchildren who are left to mourn her loss.

A party of eight, friends and relatives, came from Waterloo, including Mrs. Ives. Mrs. Welch was also present, Mr. and Mrs. Day Brockman of Newton and Floyd Crain, a grandson from Wyoming.
