DIED.

ALLEN--In Grinnell, Jan. 6th, 1881, at the residence of her son-in-law, Mr. G.A. Barker, Mrs. William Allen, aged 78 years and 5 months.

On Thursday morning the family of Mr. Barker were shocked to find Mrs. Barker's aged mother dead in her bed. She had been subject for some years to attacks of rheumatism of the heart, and the doctors suppose that this disease caused her death. Mrs. Allen was born in Cornwall, England, in 1802 and came to America with her husband in 1841. They settled in Pennsylvania, where Mr. Allen died in 1863?. Six years ago Mrs. Allen came west, and has been living with her daughters one in Neb. and the other here. She has been resident here since October, '70. The funeral was held on Sabbath afternoon, the sermon being preached at the Methodist church by the pastor Dr. Murphy.

Mrs. Allen was an Episcopalian,--a member of the Established Church of England.

Mr. and Mrs. Barker wish to thank their many friends for the kindness and sympathy shown in this time of trial.
