MRS. MARY A. HOPKINS

Mary A. Emery Hopkins was born in Maine, January 26th, and died at the home of her son, D.A. Hopkins, of Grinnell, February 10, 1915.

In 1853 she was united in marriage to Louis B. Hopkins, of Bangor, Maine. To this union one child was born, D.A. Hopkins, with whom she has made her home most of her life, her husband having died in early life from a wound received in the Civil War.

They came to the state of Iowa in 1869, locating at Sioux City where they made their home until coming to Grinnell in 1901.

Mother Hopkins, as she was familiarly known, united with the Methodist Episcopal church when 18 years of age, and remained a member of that communion until her death.

Having reached her 87th year she knew the end of her earthly pilgrimage must be near and patiently waited for the messenger to call her home.
