MYRTLE CLOYD RITES ARE SET

Myrtle L. Cloyd, 89, of Friendship Manor died Tuesday, May 3, at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Smith Funeral Home, with burial in Sheridan Cemetery.

The daughter of Lincoln and Ada Vanderveer Anthony, she was born Aug. 18, 1898, in Sheridan Township. She attended rural school and graduated from Grinnell High School in 1917. She then taught in the Chester and Sonora rural schools.

She was married to Wallace E. Cloyd at her parents' home Jan. 1, 1920, and the couple farmed in the Chester and Newburg areas until Mr. Cloyd's death. She moved to Springfield, Mo., in 1981, returning to live at Friendship Manor in 1986.

Surviving are two sons, Dr. Jesse Cloyd of Springfield and W. Edgar Cloyd of Hudson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; three brothers, Ray Anthony of Brooklyn, Leslie of Vinton and David of Tama; and two sisters Laura Johnson and Mary Kenner, both of Chelsea.

She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; one brother, Emory Anthony; and one sister, Hazel Saunders.
