USEFUL WOMAN OF SHERIDAN PASSES AWAY

Hazel Burnett Anthony, eldest daughter of Lincoln and Ada Anthony, was born in Sheridan township March 11, 1893, and passed away at the home of her mother May 9, 1935, at the age of 42 years, one month and 23 days. Her entire life, up to the time of her marriage, was spent on the home place in Sheridan. She attended the district school and went three months to Grinnell High School, but was forced to discontinue her education on account of poor health.

She united with the Sheridan M.E. church at the age of 14, and continued in the faith through life.

She was united in marriage to Frank Saunders on January 1, 1920. To this union four children were born, one daughter, Edith, having died in infancy.

She leaves to mourn her loss her husband; one son, Robert; two daughters, Mildred and Jean; her mother; four brothers, David of Sheridan, Ray of Brooklyn, Leslie of Cedar Rapids, Emory of Chelsea; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtle Cloyd of Newburg, Mrs. Laura Johnson of Sheridan, Mrs. Mary Keener of Chelsea; her aged grandmother, Mrs. Laura B. Vanderveer of Grinnell, and a host of relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Sheridan Methodist church at 2 o'clock Saturday, with the Rev. W.B. Kight in charge. She was laid to rest in the Sheridan cemetery.

Songs were sung by Mrs. Earl Soth, Mrs. Libbie Graff, J.F. Shope and Henry Schultz. Pallbearers were Lester Hendrickson, Harvey Harris, Max Hays, Charles Haynes, Charles Mayo, and Lester Spire.
