DOTY FUNERAL IS THURSDAY

Pneumonia Causes Death of Mrs. A. Doty Monday, Jan. 23

Funeral services for Mrs. Abel Doty, 81, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Methodist church with the Rev. Fred Miller in charge.

Pall bearers will be grandsons: William Smith, Melvin Doty, John Roudabush, Owen Wenger, Elver Roudabush and Clifford Anderson, Jr.

Mrs. Doty died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carl Carlsen, Monday night, January 23, 1939. Pneumonia was the cause of her death although she had been in poor health for a number of years. She would have been 82 years old in two weeks.

She came to Iowa about 1865 from Ohio and has lived in Poweshiek county for over 55 years living for over 35 years on the same farm. About a year ago because of failing health she came to the home of her daughter, Mrs. Carlsen. Mr. Doty died about 5 years ago.

She is survived by eight children. They are: Forrest and Glen, Mrs. Ada Carlsen, Mrs. Bertha Roudabush, Mrs. Gertrude Roudabush, Mrs. Minnie Wenger, Mrs. Ethel Anderson and Mrs. Cora Johnson. There are 23 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.
