LAST SERVICES ARE HELD FOR CHAS. E. EDELBLUTE

Funeral services for Charles E. Edelblute who passed away Oct. 23rd, at the home of his niece, Miss Eva Scott, at Davenport, were held Sunday afternoon at two o'clock from Snyder Brothers chapel, conducted by Rev. Charles R. Rowe. Pall bearers were Mr. Carpenter of Tama, Will Laymiller, Raymond Norris, Clarence Decatur, Harold Renaud and A.H. Altemeier. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.

Chas. E. Edelblute was born near Williamsburg, Pa., April 27, 1849. He came to Scott county in 1856 with his parents, James and Nancy Edelblute, settling at Summit, Iowa.

In 1870 the family moved to Poweshiek county where he was engaged in farming until 1911, when he retired and moved to Grinnell, living here with his niece, Emma, until her death in 1930. At this time he went to Davenport to reside with his nieces, Eva and Mary Scott.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Mrs. Rebecca Scott and Miss Emma Edelblute, and one brother, Frank.

An invalid for the past three years, his patience and sweetness endeared him to all who came in contact with him. He was a man of culture and refinement, always courteous and a real gentleman. For fifteen years he cared for his invalid sister. He counted it a joy to be of service to others.

I know not what the future hath
Of marvel or surprise;
Assured alone that life and death
His mercy underlies. --Whittier.
