LAST RITES FOR MISS EDELBLUTE

Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon for Miss Emma J. Edelblute, who died at her home here Monday. Rev. H.L. Wissler of Chester was in charge of the brief and simple service, which was held at the home.

A beautiful life came to a close when Emma J. Edelblute passed away. Hers had been a life of service for others. Early in life she became a teacher and gave her best efforts to moulding the character of youth for usefulness in the world.

She was born in Blair County, Pennsylvania, June 2, 1840, and departed this life at her home in Grinnell, Ia., June 30th, 1930, aged 90 years, 1 month.

With her family she came to Iowa in 1856. They first settled near Davenport where she became a teacher, first in county schools, and later in the Davenport city schools. In 1876 she came to Poweshiek county and continued in the work of teaching, later going to Marshalltown, where she gave a number of years to her chosen profession.

She next went to Chicago where she taught till 1899, when she retired from professional work, and came to the family home near Newburg, Ia., where she lived until in 1907 when they moved to Grinnell. While in the Newburg home, she united with the Newburg Congregational church to which she gave faithful service.

Although of an age far beyond the allotted three score years and ten, she only a few weeks past made a visit to Tama county and greatly enjoyed every bit of the way.

She leaves to mourn her passing two brothers, Charles Edelblute of Grinnell, and F.J. Edelblute of Des Moines and two nieces Eva and Mary Scott of Davenport.
