RITES SET FOR LELAND GRATTAN

Leland Grattan, 86, of the Mayflower Home died Tuesday evening, Feb. 18, at Grinnell General Hospital.

A memorial service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Friday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. Philip J. Ramstad, pastor of the United Church of Christ-Congregational, officiating. Organist will be Alice Renaud. Following cremation, burial will be in the Chester Cemetery north of Grinnell.

The son of John and Lavinia Williams Grattan, he was born on April 26, 1899, in Medford, Okla. He lived in Colorado and California where he received his education, moving to Grinnell in 1919. He farmed in Chester Township.

On Jan. 12, 1936, he was married to Stephanie L. Camp in Billings, Mont. The family moved to Newton in 1962, then came to the Mayflower Home in 1980.

Mr. Grattan was a member of the Farm Bureau, the Izaak Walton League, and the United Church of Christ-Congregational.

He is survived by his wife; two sons, Worthin of rural Grinnell and Gordon of rural Bondurant; one daughter, Julie Wilson of Cedar Falls; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Albert; and four brothers Worthin, Eugene, Henry and Ralph.
