MRS. E.A. BUMP DIES AFTER LONG ILLNESS

CLEAR LAKE--Mrs. Ernest A. Bump, 84, died Thursday at a Mason City hospital following a long illness.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at the First Methodist Church here. Dr. John DeLong, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery. Wilcox Funeral Home is in charge.

Hattie O. Bump lived in Clear Lake 18 years, moving here from Monroe where her husband was a longtime merchant.

She was born Oct. 14, 1881, at Grinnell, daughter of William and Susan Bortell. She was married to Ernest A. Bump Aug. 12, 1903, at Grinnell.

She was prominent in several Clear Lake organizations, the Eastern Star, Rebekah Lodge, American Red Cross Gray Ladies, and the Methodist Church. She was a member of the Iowa Federation of Women's Clubs for 50 years and a life member of Pythian Club.

Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Warren Duesenberg; two grandchildren, Don Duesenberg, Clear Lake, and Mrs. Bruce Long, Evansville, Ind.; four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Maude Davis, Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her husband in 1959, three sisters and one brother.

Pallbearers selected are Emery Ludwig, W.H. Davies, Harold Miller, Arthur Wilcox, Lee Jacobson and E.A. Brown.

Caryl Olson will be vocalist and Mrs. Harry Mason, the organist. Mrs. Amy Luscomb and Mrs. Harry Olson are in charge of the flowers.

The family suggest any memorials be given to the Methodist Church or the American Cancer Society.
