EARL BELCHER IS BURIED TODAY

Funeral services for Earl Belcher, whose death from lock jaw was announced in Tuesday's Herald, were held at 2 o'clock this afternoon from the Methodist church, conducted by Rev. Robert Lincoln.

Mr. Belcher was born in Lebanon, Ind., Dec. 16, 1897, the son of Mr. and Mrs. James Belcher. In February of 1917 he came to Grinnell and November 20 of the same year he was married to Miss Lulu Bell Tennant, whose brother, George Tennant, was one of the first Poweshiek county boys killed in France, and whose name is commemorated in Focht-Tennant Post.

He was mustered into the army June 28, 1916 and served in the Mexican campaign as a member of Company M, Second Indiana Infantry.

He is survived by his wife and six children, Helen Marie, Georgia Fay, Mary Edith, Arline May, Earl Monroe and Armeta Bell, also by his mother, Mrs. Mary Belcher, and two brothers, Jasper and Roe Chester Belcher, all of Grinnell.

Pall bearers at the services this afternoon were Hugh Worthington, Peter Ledger, Merle Sparks, Tom Sloan, Squire Sloan and Tom Keenan. Burial was in Hazelwood.
