A.J. GROSENBACH DIES SUDDENLY HERE SATURDAY

Albert J. Grosenbach, 75, of 1203 Spencer St., died suddenly Saturday afternoon.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Grinnell Methodist church with the Rev. Chester Custer, pastor, officiating. Organ music will be provided by Mrs. Kathleen Heffner. Flower bearers will be Mrs. Harris Vande Noord and Mrs. Arlo Worth.

Serving as pallbearers will be Wilson Beaty, David Barns, Charles Vogel, Rolla Whitaker, Tom Sanders, and John Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be Charles Maring, Harry Crowder, Lee Conner, Roy Mushrush, Charles H. Dimit, and Virgil Doud.

Masonic graveside rites will be conducted by F.W. Tomasek and members of Hermon Lodge No. 273, AF & AM, Grinnell. Interment will be in Hazelwood cemetery.

The son of Adam and Katharine Stormer Grosenbach, he was born near Chatsworth, Ill., on Jan. 25, 1888. He attended the rural schools near the family home and on March 23, 1910, was united in marriage with Edith Williams at Chatsworth. She preceded him in death in 1946.

To the union were born one daughter and four sons: Mrs. Dolph (Alberta) Miller of Grinnell, Emory Grosenbach of New Sharon, Gerald Grosenbach of Grinnell, Milton Grosenbach of Westerville, Ohio, and Arthur Grosenbach of Grinnell.

The family lived and farmed in Illinois until 1927 when they moved to a farm near Algona. In 1934, they moved to a farm just north of Grinnell and continued to live there until his retirement in 1948.

On Dec. 28, 1947, at Grinnell, Mr. Grosenbach was married to Gayle Lowry.

He was a member of the Methodist church, serving in the past on the official board and as a trustee, and was also a member of the Methodist Men's Club.

In addition, he was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, B.P.O. Elks No. 1266, Hermon Masonic Lodge No. 273, and Palestine Chapter of Royal Arch Masons, all of Grinnell. Also, he belonged to King Solomon Council No. 20, R and SM of Marshalltown, and the Oriental Commandery No. 22, Knights Templar of Newton, and Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines.

Survivors include his widow, Gayle; four sons; one daughter; 13 grandchildren; two brothers, Will Grosenbach of Washington, Ill., and Walter Grosenbach of Chatsworth, Ill.; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Davidson of Phoenix, Ariz.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith; his parents; one stepson, Charles Chedester in 1961; and one brother in infancy.
