The body of Mrs. Willis Davis arrived in Grinnell from California this morning and funeral services were held this afernoon at 2:30 o'clock from the Snyder Brothers chapel, conducted by Rev. Peter Young. Interment was made in Hazelwood. The pallbearers were relatives.

The death of Mrs. Davis removed another of those who were closely connected with the early beginnings of Grinnell. She was Sarah O. Carmichael, a sister of C.G. Carmichael, father of Mrs. M.C. Sutherland of this city, and came to Grinnell first when a young lady to visit at her brother's home. While visiting here she met Mr. Davis, who had located in Grinnell soon after the close of the Civil War.

After their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Davis made their home here continuously for many years, Mrs. Davis moving to California after the death of her husband in 1908. She had returned to Grinnell for frequent visits.

Mrs. Davis had been making her home with her daughter, Mrs. Shepherd, in Pomona, Calif., where she passed away, aged 84 years.

She is survived by four sons and three daughters, S.R. Davis of Rock Island, Ill., Reece B. Davis, of Superior, Wis., Charles G. Davis of El Paso, Texas, Fred E.
