Sarah Judd was born February 13th, 1807, in Stafford, Orange county, Vermont. At the age of 24 she was married to Horace B. Royce of Northfield, Washington county, Vermont, with whom she lived until July 31st, 1884, when they were parted by death. She survived him sixteen years and five months, her age being 93 years and 11 months. At the age of 15 she experienced religion, and has ever lived in the faith. She was perfectly resigned to go. In 1834 she and her husband moved to New York where they resided until 1839, removing at that time to the state of Wisconsin, living there until 1860 when they came to Iowa. They spent the greater part of their lives on the frontier. She died at the home of her son, Geo. W. Royce, Jan. 12, 1901. She has one son dead, the eldest, whose family, with four surviving children, three sons and one daughter, and their families live to mourn her loss. The funeral services took place at the Presbyterian church, Monday at 1 o'clock p.m., services being conducted by Rev. Mr. Mackay, in the presence of a large number of relatives and friends.
