ELIZABETH FANTON

Elizabeth C. Muckler Fanton, 95, of Marshalltown, formerly of Gilman, died of a heart ailment Thursday, Aug. 27, at Villa Del Sol in Marshalltown.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Gilman United Church of Christ, with the Rev. Rich Gamble officiating. Organist will be Janice Everts. Casket bearers will be Al, Bill, Bob, James, John and Richard Ahrens; Lyle Muckler; John Nolan; David Palmer and Larry Wray. Burial will be in Prairie View Cemetery, Gilman, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

She was born March 3, 1903, in Brookfield, Mo., to John William and Mary Blanch Badger Ahrens. The family moved to Newburg where she attended school. She was a graduate of Newburg High School.

She was married to Verle A. Muckler March 11, 1925. The couple lived and farmed near Newburg. Mr. Muckler died in 1933.

She was married to Elgin Fanton June 14, 1945, in Green Mountain. The couple lived in Gilman.

Mrs. Fanton was a member of the Gilman United Church of Christ, the Order of Eastern Star, the White Shrine and the Gilman American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by one son, Duane Muckler of Gilman; one daughter, Mildred Masteller of Littleton, Colo.; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Claude and Donald Ahrens, both of Grinnell.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers, John L. and Carl A. Ahrens; and five sisters, Katherine Cummings, Mary Muckler, Esther Wray, Jo Dunton and Billie Nolan.
