WAYNE SHEETS RITES SATURDAY

Wayne Sheets, 72, of rural Brooklyn died Wednesday night at Grinnell General Hospital.

Funeral services were conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Malcom United Methodist Church, with the Rev. L.P. Fitzpatrick and the Rev. Earl Downing officiating. Burial was at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Brooklyn.

The son of Robert and Mary Ella Sheets, he was born Nov. 22, 1907, south of Brooklyn. He attended rural school and was graduated from Brooklyn High School in 1927.

On Feb. 6, 1937, he was married to Mary Downing at Detroit, Mich. A lifelong resident of Poweshiek County, he farmed until his retirement. He was a member of the Malcom United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; four sons, Ivan of Grinnell, Melvin of Louisville, Ky., Dwight of Shrewsbury, Pa., and Charles of Montezuma; one brother, Raymond Sheets of Brooklyn; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother and one grandson.
