Mrs. Blanche Ella Bernard Porter, daughter of Franklin Sherman and Priscilla Stoaks Bernard, was born in Malcom, Iowa, June 3, 1883, and passed away suddenly in her home on Jan. 10, 1958, while a resident of Sutherland, Iowa.

As a child and youth she attended the public schools in Malcom, and was graduated from high school in 1901. On Sept. 24, 1902, she was united in marriage to Mr. Worth Wilbur Porter. To them were born three children. They made their home in Poweshiek county until 1920, and then moved to Storm Lake, where they resided for twenty years. Three years were spent in the Hartley community, and in 1944 they moved to Sutherland. It was at this time that they discontinued farming. About a year ago, the Porters observed their 55th wedding anniversary.

Mrs. Porter was a member of the Methodist church, and belonged to the Covey Aid. She will be long remembered for her friendliness and devotion to her family.

Preceding her in death were her parents, her husband, in December of 1957, and a son, in infancy.

Those who survive are her two sons, Mr. Glenn Worth Porter, of Rembrandt, Iowa, and Mr. Wayne Bernard Porter, of Hartley, Iowa; three grandchildren: Mrs. Bert (Lois) Guiver, of Platte, S. Dak.; Mr. Franklin Porter, of Early, Iowa; and Miss Mary Porter, of Hartley, Iowa; one great grandson, Larry T. Guiver of Platte, S. Dak., and many neighbors and friends.

Funeral services were held in the Baumgarten Home for Funerals, Sunday, Jan. 12, 1958, at 2:00 p.m. Interment was made in the family burial plot in Malcom, Iowa, on Jan. 13. Her minister, the Rev. Warren A. Bintz, was in charge.
