MRS. EWART SERVICES HELD

Mary Porter Ewart, 87, of Grinnell died Sunday morning at Friendship Manor.

Graveside services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Rev. Daniel I. Ogata, pastor of the First United Presbyterian Church of Grinnell, officiating.

Memorials may be made to Friendship Manor and may be left at the Smith Funeral Home east side facility.

The daughter of Sampson and Ruth Clark Porter, she was born Oct. 11, 1890, near Malcom. She had been a resident of the Grinnell and Ewart areas all her life, except for a few years when she lived in California and Colorado. While living in Grinnell she was employed as an operator for the former Interior Telephone Co.

She is survived by a granddaughter. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Mrs. Ruth Grooms; and her brother, Worth Porter.
