ELLA E. SPRAGUE

Ella E. Farley, eldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Farley, was born at Ellenburg, New York, March 8, 1858, and died at Grinnell, Iowa, Jan. 21, 1923, aged 64 years, 10 months, 8 days.

The deceased came to Ewart, Iowa, in 1880, where she taught for several terms in the schools of the Ewart vicinity.

On March 13, 1884, she was united in marriage to Herman H. Sprague. They lived at Ewart until 1887, when they removed to Western Nebraska. They remained there two years, coming to Grinnell, Iowa, in 1889, where the family have continued to reside.

To this union were born three daughters, Mamie E., who died in infancy, Ina L. and Lena May, who are left to mourn the loss of a faithful and devoted mother, the husband and father having preceded her in death Sept. 2, 1916.

Mrs. Sprague united with the church at Ellenburg at the age of eighteen. Since coming to Grinnell, she has been a faithful and valued member of the Methodist Church, being a constant attendant at both Sunday School and church services until failing health prevented.

Sixteen months ago she was stricken with the illness which terminated in her death, inspite of all that loving care and medical aid could do.

Mrs. Sprague was a devoted wife and mother, a loyal friend and neighbor. Though of a quiet and unassuming dispostion her readiness to aid was unfailing. The hearts of all have gone out to her in sympathy during these trying months of suffering, and now that she is gone, deep and sincere sympathy is extended to the bereaved daughters.

Funeral services were held this afternoon from the home on Elm street conducted by her pastor, Rev. W.C. Wasser. Interment was in Hazelwood. Pall bearers were George Sampson, T.S. Mason, M.T. Scott, O.T. Carlstrom, H. Jacobs and Alex Manson.
