MARY WRIGHT RITES FRIDAY
Mary Helen Wright, 88, of 705 Hamilton Ave., Grinnell, died Tuesday, Dec. 16, at St. Francis Manor where she had lived for the past year.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Grinnell Christian Church, with the Rev. John Epperson, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Steve Meek of the Community Church of Novelty, Mo., officiating. Burial will be in Hazelwood Cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
The daughter of James and Katherene Munn Walters, she was born in Lockwood, Mo., on June 28, 1898. She attended rural schools.
On Dec. 24, 1914, she was married to Edward B. Wright at Lamar, Mo. She had been a resident of Grinnell since 1925.
Mrs. Wright was a charter member of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church, serving as president of the church's women's Missionary Council. She later joined the Grinnell Christian Church.
Survivors include one son, Edward J. of Burlington, Texas; two daughters, Florence Bell of Grinnell and Adelma Mun of Golden, Colo.; 23 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and five step-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1968; three sons, Elmer L., Virgil and Raymond S.; one daughter, Katherine Lucille Wright; one step-great-grandchild; three sisters and six brothers.
