EDWARD J. WRIGHT

Edward J. Wright, 85, of Lufkin, Texas, died Thursday, March 22, 2007, in Lufkin.

A funeral service was held Sunday, March 25, in Gipson Funeral Home Chapel in Lufkin. Pallbearers were Joel Stanley, Sky Martin, Hunter Martin, Jeff Schafer, Nick Childers and Chris Wright. Graveside services followed at Homer Cemetery near Jasper, Texas.

He was born Oct. 9, 1921, in Lamar, Mo., the son of Edward Byron and Mary Helen Walters Wright. He was a retired commercial construction superintendent. He had served his country in the United States Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He was a member of the First Assembly of God in Huntington, Texas. He had lived in Angelina County since 1994 and in Lufkin for the past two years.

He is survived by his wife GeoJan Wright of Lufkin; his children, Portia Sharp of The Woodlands, Texas, Danny Paul Wright of Houston, Stephen Lee Wright of Montgomery, Texas, Xandra Green of Conroe, Texas, Drue Edward Wright of Houston and James Cary Wright of Lufkin; his sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Glenn Bell of Grinnell; 16 grandchildren and several great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

The name of Adelma Muns of Missouri, sister of the late Edward Wright who died March 22 in Lufkin, Texas, was unintentionally omitted from his obituary which appeared in the March 26 issue of The Grinnell Herald-Register.
