LAST RITES SAID FOR MR. WRIGHT

Edward Bryan Wright, 72, of 410 Washington Ave., died Monday evening, Nov. 4 at Grinnell General Hospital-East, following an illness suffered the last five months.

One of thirteen children born to George and Cinderella Statts Wright, Mr. Wright was born July 27, 1896 at Golden City, Mo.

On Dec. 24, 1914 at Lamar, Mo., he married Mary Helen Walters. To this union were born seven children, five of whom survive: Edward J. Wright of Rte. 4, Grinnell; Virgil L. Wright of Pleasantville, Ia.; Mrs. Glen (Florence) Bell of Grinnell; Raymond S. Wright of Rte. 1, Grinnell; and Adelma, the wife of Rev. Alvin Clevenger of Denison, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Wright had made their home in Grinnell the last 43 years, where he was owner and operator of the Wright Construction and House Moving firm. They had celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary last December.

Mr. Wright was also one of the charter members of the Grinnell Assembly of God Church and had spent much of his life in participating in church activities. In later years he became a member of the Grinnell Christian Church.

Survivors include his wife, Mary; his three sons and two daughters; 20 grandchildren; one great grandchild; two brothers, Isaac Wright of Boise, Idaho and George Wright of Hoquiam, Wash.; 4 sisters, Mrs. Jewell (Lucy) Garber, of Centralia, Ill., Mrs. Paul (Dorothy) Cordor of Carthage, Mo., and Mrs. Finis (Lulu) Vaught of Jasper, Mo. Mr. Wright was preceded in death by his son, Elmer L. Wright in 1949; a daughter, Katherine Lucille Wright at the age of two in 1919; one granddaughter, Demaris and four brothers and two sisters: Jon, Roy, William and a brother in infancy and Mrs. Nellie Hill and Delores Wright.

Funeral services for Mr. Wright were held at 2:30 this afternoon (Thursday) at the Grinnell Christian Church with the Rev. Roy A. Coop, former pastor of the Christian Church and the Rev. Sam Reaves, pastor of the Assembly of God Church, officiating.

Music was furnished by Mrs. Sue Martindale, organist, and Mr. and Mrs. Robert P. Brown, vocalists. Pallbearers were Mr. Wright's grandchildren: Leon C. Wright, Danny Paul Wright, Norman S. Bell, Stephen L. Wright, Sheldon L. Wright, Roger Dale Wright and James P. Bell. Flower bearers were his granddaughters: Mrs. James E. Sharp, Miss Lagonda Clevenger, Miss Xandra Wright, and Miss Debra Clevenger.

Burial was in Hazelwood Cemetery with the Smith Funeral Home in charge.
