OSTROM SERVICE HELD MONDAY
Percy Ostrom, 74, died Friday afternoon, April 3, in the Brookhaven Nursing Home in Brooklyn.
Funeral services for Percy Ostrom were held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 6, at Grace United Methodist Church in Brooklyn. The Rev. Fred Pierce, pastor of the church, officiated. Masonic rites were conducted by Corinthian Lodge No. 174 AF and AM. Pianist was Mrs. Nina Bartachek and vocalist was Mrs. Sybil Kelley. Flower attendants were Mr. and Mrs. Howard Brimmer and Mr. and Mrs. Harold Schrader.
Casket-bearers were Larry Dayton, Virgil Heishman, Roger Roudabush, Carroll Smith, Clinton Smith and Max Ryan. Interment was in the IOOF Cemetery.
Born April 12, 1906, near Hartwick, he was the son of Grant L. Ostrom and Ada Doty Ostrom. He was educated in the Brooklyn schools and attended Drake University in Des Moines.
On April 6, 1929, he married Florence Fraser in Des Moines.
He managed the Brooklyn Co-op Creamery for 25 years. In 1959, the couple moved to Chariton where he managed another creamery. He returned to Brooklyn in 1979.
He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church, a 50-year member of the Corinthian Lodge and the Eastern Star. He had also served on the Brooklyn fire department and the school board.
Surviving him are his son, Walter, of Wichita Falls, Tex.; two daughters, Mrs. Jim (Marjorie) Doonan of Maple Grove, Minn., and Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy) Channel of Ogden, Utah; and one sister, Mrs. Freeman (Grace) Dayton of Brooklyn.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, six brothers and one sister.
