LAST RITES FRIDAY FOR RALPH SHAW
Funeral services for Ralph Shaw of Victor, who had been in ill poor health for four years, were held last Friday afternoon at two o'clock at the McAninch chapel in Victor with the Rev. N. Grote officiating. Organist was Mrs. Ruth Ocheltree who accompanied Arthur Lang, soloist.
Burial services were conducted at the I.O.O.F. cemetery in Brooklyn where military rites were accorded by the Harold E. Smith American Legion post of Victor. Pallbearers were Fred Neuhaus, Melvin Price, Lloyd McBride, Mark Johnston, Henry De Meulenaere and Joe Safkin.
Ralph J. Shaw, son of John W. and Kate Price Shaw, was born at Ladora Sept. 29, 1894, and died at Veteran's hospital in Knoxville Feb. 23, 1960. He attended the Victor public school where he gratuated in 1911.
On July 12, 1917, he enlisted in World War I and served in the army in Siberia and the Philippines until honorably discharged Jan. 23, 1920 at San Francisco, Calif.
He was married Sept. 27, 1922 to Adaline Oneyear of Dubuque and the couple came to Carnforth where the family has always lived.
Mr. Shaw was a mail carrier from the Victor postoffice for 39 years and due to ill health was forced to retire Nov. 1, 1956. He was a member of the Victor American Legion for many years and also a member of the Iowa county Rural Mail Carrier's Ass'n.
He is survived by his widow; one son, Loren Shaw of Baxter; one granddaughter, Vicky Jean Shaw; and one brother, Earl Shaw of Ladora.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Ray P. Shaw; one infant sister; and two sons, Jackie and Burton Jay, who died in infancy.
