MRS. LAURA SAGE DIES JUNE 14TH; FUNERAL TODAY

Mrs. Laura Belle Sage of Grinnell died June 14th following a lingering illness and funeral services were held today (Monday) from the James Funeral Home.

The Rev. Leland Mann officiated at the services and musical selections were furnished by Mrs. Carl Paxon. Pall bearers were J.J. Osborn, Charles Hink, D.W. Barns, Philip Garrigan, Carl Child and John Hotchkin.

Interment was at Hazelwood cemetery.

Eldest daughter of Elisha and Emma Mills Hammer, she was born Sept. 4, 1869, at Hammer's Grove north of Newton. Mrs. Sage's girlhood was spent in the vicinity of Newton, later moving to Grinnell.

She was reared a Quaker and later became a member of the Congregational Church of Grinnell. On Aug. 31, 1886, she was married to Henry Sage of Grinnell.

To this union were born five children: Howard of Grinnell, Dwight of Anaheim, Calif., Cyril of Los Angeles, Calif., LaVern of Goshen, Ind., and Thelma Hale of Eugene, Ore. Her husband preceded her in death in 1933.

She leaves to mourn, her five children, nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
