Jennie Gertrude Watson, 67, of Montezuma died Tuesday, Jan. 24, at Grinnell General Hospital.
Funeral services for Jennie Watson were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the United Methodist Church in Montezuma, with the Rev. James Nicholson officiating. Music was provided by Alice Underwood, organist, and Sue Johnson, vocalist.
Pallbearers were Ed Kelly, William Henkle, Delmar Stewart, Emmet Kline, Cornie Sterk, and Marion Palmer. Interment was in the Jackson Township cemetery.
Born in Bogue, Kan., on July 19, 1910, she was the daugher of Andrew and Gertie Van Oenen. After moving to Searsboro in 1926, the family farmed in the Blue Point and Searsboro areas, and later in the Forest Home vicinity. She married Robey Watson on Jan. 28, 1932, and in 1948, they settled on their Montezuma farm.
She was a member of the Montezuma Methodist Church, the L.G.T. Club, and had belonged to Blue Point and Bunker Hill clubs.
Surviving her are her husband; a daughter Mrs. James (Janet) Nelson of Fairfax, Va.; two sons, Carl Watson of West Concord, Minn., and Dale Watson of Eden Prairie, Minn.; her father, Andrew, of New Sharon; her brother, William Van Oenen of Glendale, Calif.; and her sisters, Glendora Vincent of Ladora and Alma Grace Voelkel of Globe, Ariz.
Preceding her in death was her mother.
