FORMER MONTEZUMA BOY A SUICIDE

Joseph Wright, 21 year-old son of Mrs. Robert Benton, who lives on a farm near this city, committed suicide Friday morning in Des Moines, when he placed a shot gun against his chest and fired the gun with a string he had attached to his foot and the trigger. The suicide occurred in the basement of the rooming house at 308 East Seventeenth street, where he had resided.

Joseph at one time attended the public school here, later enlisting in the navy where he served for several years. He had been in Des Moines about a week and previous to his arrival there he had been employed as a farm hand near Tracey. He had said he planned to re-enlist in the navy Friday morning.

A note addressed to Miss Blanche Drew, who also resided at the rooming house, gave no intimation as to the reason for his act.--Montezuma Republican.
