FORMER GRINNELLIAN JOHN LOCKHART DIES AT DES MOINES HOME

Funeral services were held in Des Moines today (Thursday) for John (Jack) Lockhart, 46, former Grinnell resident who died Monday night at his home in Des Moines.

Lockhart attended Grinnell high school and was employed at the Cunningham Drug Store. He later attended barber school and served his apprenticeship with Lee Bullock in Grinnell before opening a shop of his own in Fort Des Moines.

He was married to the former Lucille Gwin of Grinnell and they were the parents of a son and daughter. Lockhart had served as a former Mayor and Councilman at Fort Des Moines.

He served in the army during World War II.
