OBITUARY OF CLEO HANSON

Cleo Eleanor Hanson, 70, was born Nov. 3, 1909, in Grinnell. She was the daughter of Harvey Alan Gilbert and Nellie Blanche Peters. She died Friday, July 18, 1980, at Cameron, MO.

Mrs. Hanson was raised in Marshalltown, IA, and was educated in the Marshalltown Public Schools. She was united in marriage to Melvin Rudolph Hanson on Aug. 29, 1927, in Waterloo.

She spent many years as a housewife, a practical nurse and in later years she was involved in home care of disabled and elderly people.

Mrs. Hanson was a member of the Senior Citizens, President of the Sunnydale Club, a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, the ALCW, and the Pleasant Valley Farm Bureau Ladies.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Melvin, a sister (Ethlyn B. Johnson), brothers, (Ross Gilbert, Clyde Gilbert) a son, (Hans Hanson) and one grandchild (Larry Hanson).

Survivors include two brothers, Ray Gilbert, Clermont, Blayne Gilbert, Marshalltown; three sons, Robert Hanson, Elkader, Jack Hanson, Cedar Falls, James Hanson, Clermont; one daughter, Doris Jean Martin, Elgin; grandchildren, Jeri Wilson, Mic Martin, David Martin, Darrell Hanson, Gregory Hanson, Brent Hanson, Valerie Hanson, Matt Hanson, Amy Hanson, Benjamin Hanson; great grandchildren, Ted Wilson, Tim Wilson, Karin Martin; nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were Monday, July 21, at 2 p.m. at Elgin Lutheran Church with the Rev. Ben Hulsing officiating. Organist was Mrs. Don Sutter and soloist was Arthur Amundson.

Pallbearers were Robert Medberry, Kenneth Blockhus, Robert Musser, Daniel Gilbert, Giles Martin and Jorris Martin. Interment was in the Elgin Cemetery.

Muehlethaler-Wright Funeral Home, Elgin, was in charge of arrangements.
