CLIFFORD BENTON DIES IN CALIFORNIA SUNDAY

A former Grinnellian, Clifford Benton, died Sunday morning at his home in Alpine, Calif., it was learned today.

Mr. Benton was a mail carrier in the Grinnell area before moving to Alpine, a suburb of San Diego, about 15 years ago.

In Grinnell he was married to the former Mary Carter, and she survives him, along with one son and two daughters. His mother-in-law, Mrs. Ellen Carter of Grinnell, also survives.

Mr. Benton had been retired from the mail service because of poor health.

Funeral services will be held Thursday of this week in Alpine, where he will be buried.
