Brooklyn (IA) Chronicle; January 4, 1889

CONNER--Died, at the residence of her son-in-law, Chas. Crider, in Warren township, Dec. 30, of pneumonia, MRS. MAHALA CONNER, widow of the late Archibald Conner Esq.

Mahala Jones was born in Orange County, New York, June 18, 1814. She was married to Archibald Conner, Nov. 8, 1832 and moved to the neighborhood of Brooklyn in 1855, where they for many years lived respected by all who knew them. Mrs. Conner was a consistent member of the Baptist church and was always known for her many christian virtues and her womanly character. Since the death of her husband she has lived with her children in this neighborhood and she always found a warm welcome awaiting her at their homes. Her death was sudden and unexpected and is universally mourned by all who knew her.

She leaves two sons and three daughters to mourn her loss, John Conner of Brooklyn, Andrew Conner of Kansas, Mrs. Thomas Phillips of California, and Mrs. Alex Duffus and Mrs. Chas. Crider of Brooklyn. Rev. E. Benson conducted the funeral services at the Presbyterian church Tuesday forenoon and the body was laid to rest in the Brooklyn cemetery.
