EDITH LOIS GILBERT WATKINS
Edith Lois Gilbert, daughter of Jud and Bertha Gilbert, was born in Grinnell, May 3, 1907 and departed this life, Dec. 7, 1946, in St. Francis Hospital, at the age of 39 years, 7 months and 4 days.

A long period of severe illness was her lot where she left this life. She was a very patient sufferer and generally wore a pleasant smile.

June 16, 1926, she became the bride of Murray Watkins. Although their home was never blessed with children of their own, they cared for others and took the place of real parents.

Edith's father departed this life Dec. 26, 1932 and her sister, Aug. 21, 1946.

For the past ten years, Edith Lois Gilbert Watkins has been a member of the First Friends church of Grinnell.

She leaves to feel her going, the husband, Murray Watkins, mother, brother Sherman Gilbert of near New Sharon, uncles, aunts, fourteen nephews and nieces, other relatives and a host of friends who will miss her greatly.

Funeral services conducted by Rev. L.E. McCargar were held Monday afternoon from the First Friends church. Music was provided by Wilma and Maxine Russell. Pallbearers were Kenneth Norris, Wilbur Norris, Max Gilbert, Gene Gilbert, Wm. Stevenson and Thomas McConkey. Interment was in Hazelwood cemetery.
