The Grinnell (IA) Herald; June 23, 1916

MARRIED.

MORSE-GUSTAFSON.

Wednesday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H.C. Morse, 1305 Elm street, occurred the marriage of their daughter, Carrie Ethel, to Mr. Floyd William Gustafson. The guests were received by the parents of the bride and groom with Mr. Gustafson's brother, Mr. Carl Gustafson and his sister, Miss Edith Gustafson.

At 8 o'clock Mrs. Rivers sang "I Love You Truly," and when the accompaniment merged into Medelssohn's wedding march, Rev. E.W. Cross, pastor of the Congregational church, came down the stairs followed by Herbert and John Willard Morse, the little nephews of the bride, Herbert carrying a basket of roses and John Willard bearing the ring.

Mr. Cross stood beneath an arch of a natural vine of English ivy where he received the bride and groom. Mrs. Rivers sang "O Promise Me," and then a beautiful and informal ring service made the couple husband and wife. Miss Floy Korns sang while the guests were offering their best wishes. Later in the evening Miss Korns sang other beautiful selections which were much appreciated.

The bride's gown was of silk net over willow silk. She carried an exquisite bouquet of sweet peas and lilies of the valley.

The dining room in which the ceremony was performed was decorated in pink roses and ferns, the other rooms in cut leaf birch and pink and white peonies.

The two course luncheon was served by the Misses Eva Garner, Helen Davis, Eleanor Gustafson, and Mr. Louis Taylor.

The bride and groom both graduated from Grinnell college in 1912. Since then Mrs. Gustafson has had three years of successful teaching in the Belle Plaine high school. Last year she has spent at home. She is very sweet and gracious and with her accomplishments and interesting personality will win for herself a large circle of friends wherever she may go.

Mr. Gustafson has had three years of theological work--one year in Union Theological seminary, working as student assistant to Dr. Chas. Edward Jefferson, pastor of Broadway Tabernacle of New York City. The last two years of his course were spent in Chicago Theological seminary, assisting Dr. Graham Taylor in social settlement work. The past year he has been minister and professor of history and religious education in Atlanta university.

Mr. and Mrs. Gustafson left Wednesday night for Clear Lake, where they will spend a few days, the remainder of the summer they will be in Grinnell and northern Iowa. October 1 they leave for their work in Atlanta.

The out of town guests were Dr. and Mrs. Leighton Morse and two sons of New York City; Mr. and Mrs. Gustafson, parents of the groom; Misses Edith, Ruth, Eleanor and Mildred Gustafson of Fort Dodge; Carl Gustafson, of Urbana, Ill.; Mr. and Mrs. George Morse and daughter of Genoa Bluff; Mr. D. Cummins, of Chicago; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kerr, of Newton; Miss Helen Davis, of Corydon, Ia.; Kenneth Danskin, of Cornell university, Ithaca, N.Y.; Harry Yates, of Chicago, Mrs. Gustafson's former pupils. Mr. Yates played the wedding march.

The valuable checks and other very beautiful presents, while they suggest the good wishes of the friends, can not express the affection and esteem in which Mr. and Mrs. Gustafson are held in Grinnell.
