October 15, 1923LOUISE GRIFFITH AND
JAY HEISEL MARRIEDAn autumn wedding of interest to their many friends was that of Miss Louise Griffith, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. H.V. Griffith, and Mr. Jay Heisel, son of Mr. and Mrs. J.B. Heisel, which took place at 12:30 last Friday at the bride's home in the presence of about sixty guests.
The Griffith home was tastefully decorated with yellow and white dahlias and ferns, carrying out the bride's colors of yellow and white.
Preceding the ceremony, Mrs. Mable Neely Raver sang "I Love You Truly." To the strains of Mendelsohn's Wedding March, played by Mrs. Lucille Adams Smith, the bridal party approached down the aisle formed of yellow and white ribbons wound with smilax, which let to an arch of greenery and wonderful yellow and white dahlias, surmounted by a "bridal knot" in the same colors. The bride and groom were preceded by the Rev. W.J. Todd, pastor of the Methodist church, who read the impressive ring service, followed by little Miss Dorothy Showalter, the ring bearer.
The bride was charming in a beautiful gown of white chiffon and lace over charmeuse with pearl trimmings. Her tulle veil was held in place by a bandeau of pearls and she carried a shower bouquet of Sunburst roses and lillie's of the valley. The little ring bearer wore a dainty organdy frock of yellow and carried the ring in the heart of a Sunburst rose.
Following congratulations, a three-course luncheon, in which the bride's colors were repeated effectively, was served by the Misses Ethel Ingerman, Amy Anderson, Rachael Richards, Mrs. Blanche Bentley, and Mrs. Gladys Showalter. During the luncheon Mrs. Smith played softly and Mrs. Raver sang "Oh Promise Me."
The Register is especially interested in the marriage of these two young people. The bride for more than a year has been employed in this office as bookkeeper, stenographer and society editor. In that time she has come to belong to The Register family, and nowhere is she loved and appreciated more than here, where her business associates have come to know her as a capable and dependable worker, an agreeable companion and a loyal friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone around the plant, but the same qualities which made her services valuable in business life promise the happiness and success in her married life which the entire force wishes for her.
Her husband is a young man of exemplary character and industrious habits. Like his bride, he has spent most of his life in this community and has won the respect of all and the friendship of many.
Mr. and Mrs. Heisel left Friday evening for a short wedding trip. Their apartment at the Preston House is completely furnished and ready for occupancy, and there they will be at home to their many friends after November 1.
Out-of-town guests at the wedding were Mr. and Mrs. C.C. Adams of Montezuma, Mrs. Mable Neely Raver of Coon Rapids, and Mrs. Lucille Adams Smith of Oskaloosa.
