RITES TUESDAY

Florence A. Latham, 86, of 1325 Spring St., the widow of Hawley Ray Latham, died Saturday evening at Grinnell General Hospital.

The daughter of John G. and Elizabeth Dittemore Davis, she was born Aug. 23, 1886, in DeKalb, Mo. Prior to her marriage Nov. 26, 1930, to Hawley Ray Latham, in Troy, Kan., she had worked as a nurse.

Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Latham farmed near Searsboro until July of 1951 when they moved to Grinnell to make their home. Mr. Latham Jan. 3, 1953. Mrs. Latham had made her home in Grinnell for the past (??) years. She was a 50-year member of the Order of Eastern Star in Savannah, Mo., and a past president of the Searsboro Garden Club.

Mrs. Latham is survived by her two step-sons, Melvin Latham of Humeston, Iowa, and Ray Latham of Milwaukee, Wis.; two step-grandchildren, Mrs. Barbara Jones of Libertyville, Ill., and Bruce Latham of Milwaukee; five step-great-grandchildren; one brother, Doyle Davis of DeKalb, Mo.; and three sisters, Annie Davis and Lallie Davis, both of DeKalb, and Mrs. Ottmar (Maryetta) Haas of St. Joseph, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Clay C. Davis.

Funeral services for Mrs. Latham will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Smith Funeral Home, with the Rev. J. Eugene Young, pastor of the Grinnell United Methodist Church, officiating. Organist will be Mrs. Howard Macy, and pallbearers will include Roy Copeland, Delbert Rayl, Bill Ritter, Dale W. Snook, John Vander Weerdt, and Joe Watson. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery at Searsboro.
