Tues., Aug., 1934SHERIFF INVESTIGATES PALO ALTO ANGLES IN KESWICK MURDER CASE
EMMETSBURG, Aug. 7--The possibility that Adolph Martens, 50, farmer near Keswick, sought for the murders of his wife, Stella, 42, and his stepdaughter, Maxine Abel, 14, might return to his former home near Mallard was being considered by Palo Alto county officers here Monday. Following word received from officers in Keokuk county, where Martens committed the double slaying Thursday, Sheriff Bert Montgomery went to Mallard where he questioned former neighbors of Martens, who reported that they had seen nothing of him recently. The Martens family left there four years ago.
