FALLS TWENTY FEET
FROM TREE AND
FRACTURES SKULL

Deep River Record: Will Atherton, who resides east of town, was up a tree, Friday, sawing off a limb and in some manner fell to the ground, a distance of twenty feet, striking on his head and shoulders, inflicting a serious wound on the side of his head. He also sustained a fracture of the skull and a broken shoulder and was otherwise bruised and shaken up. He lay in an unconscious condition for about twenty hours, and for a time his life was despaired of. However, under skillful medical treatment, he rallied and if no complications set in, is in a fair way to make a good recovery. His many friends sympathize with him and hope he will make a speedy recovery.
