COURT NEWS
--------------------

The grand jury returned three indictments last week: One against Ellen Mincer for assault with intent to commit great bodily injury; one against Hicks for forgery, and one against Cecil Quaintance for murder.

Quaintance is a 16-year-old boy, who shot and killed Will Oliver, who lived a few miles south of Montezuma. Quaintance was taken to Oskaloosa, for safety and was there adjudged insane and ordered to Mt. Pleasant. The sheriff, however, brought him to Montezuma and placed him in jail, where he now is. The attorneys for Quaintance and County Attorney Talbott will settle the matter in court of whether he should be sent to Mt. Pleasant or tried for murder.
