MR. AND MRS. CHAS.
PORTER CELEBRATE
GOLDEN WEDDING

This is a big day at the Charles Porter home. A reunited family, gathered from the far corners of the country, has come to honor the golden wedding anniversary of their father and mother and a large circle of friends, extending clear to the city limits of Grinnell on every side, is extending congratulations.

Mr. and Mrs. Porter have passed the day quietly, quite as though being fifty years married were not an unusual event. Rejoicing in the love of their children and the hearty congratulations of their friends, they have spent the day quietly together.

A family dinner was served at two o'clock and this evening a number of old friends have been asked in for a social time.

Mr. and Mrs. Porter have been residents of Grinnell for many years. Mr. Porter has been prominent in the public life of the city, having served a number of years as a faithful and devoted member of the city council.

He is a man whose keen discrimination in the use of the English language the Herald has good reason to remember for he has more than once convicted against his will the editor of this publication for some error in grammar or good taste.

We submit this little notice with fear and trembling, hoping that the hearty congratulations herein conveyed will atone for any errors of omission or commission in the article itself.

The following are the children gathered for this glad occasion: Seymour H. Porter, wife and son Charles of Aneta, N.D.; Harry Porter, of Craig, Montana; Mrs. Addie Benson, of Pawtucket, R.I.; Mrs. Nellie Bryan and son Harold of Montezuma.
