CHARLOTTE TEW,
RODERICK MCBLAIN
MARRIED THURSDAY

In a double ring ceremony performed in the home of the bride's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Everett Tew, Miss Charlotte Tew was united in marriage to Roderick McBlain, S 1c, U.S. Navy, on Thursday evening, Apr. 4, at 8 o'clock. The Rev. Hal Earl Norton, pastor of the First Baptist church, performed the ceremony in the presence of 30 close relatives and friends.

Several large baskets of flowers were used in the home, and preceding the ceremony Mrs. Lee Searles, accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Willis Evans, sang "I Love You Truly."

Miss Tew, who was given in marriage by her father, wore a medium blue suit, and her corsage was of dark red roses. Her attendant, Miss Charlene M. Gray of Des Moines, wore a street-length dress of rose crepe and a corsage of white carnations.

Max McDowell served the groom as best man.

Following the wedding a reception was held in the Tew home. The two-tiered wedding cake, topped by a miniature bride and groom, was cut in the traditional fashion. The Misses Joan Agnew and Mary Evans, nieces of the bride, assisted Mrs. Tew in serving.

Mrs. McBlain graduated from Grinnell high school with the class of 1944, and she has since been employed as a bookkeeper by the McGregor Furniture Co.

The groom, who also graduated from Grinnell high school in 1944, enlisted in the navy following his graduation and has spent several months in sea duty in the south Pacific. He returned recently from Japan and is now on a 21-day leave until Apr. 21, when he must join his ship at Portland, Ore.

Out of town guests present at the wedding and reception were Mr. and Mrs. Lyman Evans of Fairfield and Miss Charlene Gray of Des Moines.
