Degree of Doctor of
Fine Arts Is Conferred
On Screen Star

Gary Cooper, who rose to eminence on the screen inspite of the tradition that the Grinnell College Dramatic club rejected his application for membership because he was considered lacking in dramatic ability, has been granted the honorary degree of Doctor of Fine Arts by Grinnell college, according to an announcement by President S.N. Stevens.

A telegram from Gary announces that he will not be able to be in Grinnell at commencement to receive his degree, because he will be busy with a picture, but it will be conferred at a special convocation whenever he is able to visit the college, possibly during Grinnell's centennial observance in 1946.
