RAINY DAY NOTES

It was some rain. From two and one half to four inches fell in Grinnell, depending on the part of town and who made the report.
-----------
The first delay here to railroad traffic was between Grinnell and Malcom where a washout occurred. The next washout was on the Skunk River bottom this side of Kellogg which marooned six or eight trains in Grinnell.
-----------
Monday the south abutment to the South Skunk bridge on Primary Seven went out and traffic will be impossible for a time.
-----------
Kellogg was cut off from the outside world by floods to the east of them and floods to the west of them, to say nothing of waters in front of them and wild waters behind them.
-----------
Skunk River was the highest it has been since 1871. Traffic over Skunk River bridge east of Colfax was turned back Sunday evening. It is said here that the bridge was slightly moved from its moorings but was saved.
-----------
Dr. F.E. Boyd of Colfax attempted to cross the bridge on foot but the approach on which he was walking gave way and he was carried into the water. A long pole which was extended to him and workmen saved him.
------------
T.J. Rinehart drove over Skunk River bridge when it was as wide as his car and no wider. He rode the crest of the wave and came thro.
